This small abstract painting was inspired by the urban landscapes, bridges and structures around New York, where the artist lived for over two years. The painting explores the dynamic of the brushstroke in a bold abstract expressionist style, looking at the possibilities of order and disorder to express the energy of the city. They explore the spontaneity and freedom of the artist’s action to create form.
The painting is created on board with oil paint on gesso and is set within a white slip with a black wood frame.
