This is an excellent example of a naive hand-carved domed shepherd’s coffer in a wonderful red & black mineral colour made in Transylvania in the 1800s. Rustic circle design and patterns and simplified organic symbols tattoo the surface, the mesh symbolically to deter and entangle malign influence. It has an elemental design and creates a striking presence with coloration and roughly carved forms.
